a note from our founder

When I turned 22, I recognized a gap for young women like me. The media’s version of the “early twenties girl” was nothing like the women I knew in real life. We were ambitious and authentic, going after our dreams with grace, and enjoying the process to get there. No one seemed to understand the complexities of women my age and the kinds of conversations we wanted to have. I knew a space for meaningful connections, stimulating conversations and honest girl talk was needed. Weeks later, I decided to follow through with my idea and She Baad was born.

I sought out to build a brand that represented the life of my multifaceted "girl boss” peers. We’re about our business, but we’re still young and wanna hear our favorite female rappers in the car. Despite what we’re told, we’re allowed to be bold and live outside the cookie cutter box that’s been created for us. My goal was to curate content and host experiences representative of the multifaceted lifestyle my collective leads.

Although we don’t use it like an acronym, our use of baad means to be bold, ambitious, and driven. When I came up with the name She Baad, I wanted the name to embody the women who would later become our collective. Being baad isn't a monolith and I hope our content conveys the duality of what this lifestyle brings.

Keylani Warfield is a founder, content writer, and connector with a passion for curating spaces where women can foster community and engage in meaningful conversation. While attending the University of Delaware, Keylani explored many of her professional interests while pursuing her bachelors in Organizational Leadership. From minoring in Fashion Management, to 3 internships across the financial, fashion and beauty industries, Keylani applies her breadth of knowledge to every aspect of her life. Utilizing her unique perspective and innate curiosity, she creates true connections with those around her. Plus, her bold personality never fails to leave a lasting impression on those who meet her.

Raised by a baad girl herself, Keylani knew from an early age what it meant to work hard and be successful— but still live your life. The confidence, intellect, drive, success, and independence her mother possessed was nothing short of influential throughout Keylani’s life. This influence became more apparent as Keylani grew into her womanhood and conveyed the same drive and confidence as her mother. As someone who flourishes in creative, challenging and supportive environments, it’s no surprise that Keylani would become the founder and host of her very own women’s social collective.

As the founder and host of She Baad, she curates spaces—both on and offline— for women to feel seen, inspired, and foster connections. Her written work both challenges and informs women as they continue to grow in their twenties. These are discussions Keylani has had with herself and recognized how important they were for her own personal and professional development— employing her to share her thoughts with the collective. As hostess, Keylani creates engaging spaces of community, support and fun that allow collective members to share their unique perspectives, learn from each other and connect beyond screens.
